Hello again
Still learning about Robert Harrop !! Can spmebody tell me the history of the Red Nose Dennis piece. I presume it was something to do with Comic Relief - but how many are there, how were they acquired, how much are they worth etc etc
Thanks

I think you'll find that the red nose Dennis was for the very first Comic Relief, and in fact there were only 50 made.
Thus they are highly sought after and fetch an unworldly premium, as in £1000+ these days.
Poppy can tell you more, he's the guru. :)

Hi everybody just got back from Cornwall and found this post. Red Nose Dennis was released March 2001 for comic relief day there is only 50 of them they were sold through the shops and then when they were sold to you the rerailer took your details etc and a certifcate was sent to you from Robert Harrops this is quite handy as when they are sold on you can check it out with Cinta as I beleive she still knows where most of them are and can tell you if it is the real thing or not, she was kind enough to help me this way.
They are all individually dated with a date and a year between 1951- 2001 ( I think ) also signed by Mr Harrop they retailed at £100. Although on any list you are given it shows the code as BDBs 01 the sticker underneath and on the box is the same as a normal Big Dennis BDB 01 it is exactly the same piece except the Red Nose if anybody wants a piccie let me know as I am very proud of mine and like to show it off.
This is still the most sort after beano piece, hope this answers your question Bryanc20

Just a footnote here, The Big Red Nose Day Dennis was available to members only through the club. We advertised it in the journal and said it would be available to the first 50 members to contact us. Some of our members contacted us through their local retailer, just to have the large figure delivered. They were all individually dated with Dennis the Menace's birthday 17.03 and then the year from 1951 - 2000 :)
