View Full Version : The Fantasy Football League 2011/12 - All Welcome!
The Robert Harrop Designs Fantasy Football League 2011 / 12
The is an invite to all to join our Fantasy Football League for the forthcoming season.
Many of you will be familiar with the format from last years' league, but if not it is simple to learn.
We have again chosen to use the Official Barclays Fantasy Football league as we feel it is the best and most supported with over 2 million players worldwide. It is totally FREE to join and prizes will be given out each month for the top scorer and a trophy will be awarded to the overall winner at the end of the season (see below for more details).
How to Join:
The way it works is once you have registered a team on the Fantasy Football site you will then be able to join whatever private league you want. To join our league, called the Balldogz Meatbowl, all you need is the following joining code, it's that simple!
Private League Joining Code:
Use the links below to get started, which includes all the rules on how to create a team and points scoring etc, and don't forget that once you have chosen your team, to join our private league, using the code above.
http://fantasy.premierleague.com/
Rules: http://fantasy.premierleague.com/rules/
Prizes:
Monthly Winner: A £40 voucher will be given to each monthly winner, i.e. the team who earns the most points through each game month.
Overall Winner: A fantastic prize this; a one-off trophy will be awarded to the Season's overall Champion. A Bulldog Footballer painted in the colours of the winning teams kit (so choose your colours wisely!!).
Please remember that the league is open to all, so all collectors are welcome, to our fun, free, no strings attached Fantasy Football Rumble!!
Let the games commence!!

Open to all.
Last season we saw a few husband and wife teams, indeed the Winner (yes a lady I know) went up against her better half.
Mrs 452 is a fully paid up member in her own right.
I'm as disgusted as the next man that she has had the temerity to enter. I need to keep an eye on the standard of house work once the season gets under way - any drop in standards and she'll be for the high jump.;)

All family members are most welcome makes it more interesting and diverse.....and theres nothing wrong with wanting a healthy busy fiercely competitive league...we had 43 last year....I want more collectors / members etc this year.
I also want to film a monthly assessment of how the league is shaping up and of course mentioning the monthly winner...all on YouTube...

I turn my back for a couple of minutes only to later discover that two more lady persons have joined the league!
Gentlemenfolk, I implore you to join, don't let these lady persons be in the majority.

Having just returned from my pre-season tour of Wolverhampton and Bilston which incidently was very successful although i did originally have a choice of either Wolverhampton or Singapore, unfortunately the cash could only stretch to Wolverhampton, although it could have been worst, it could have been North Staffordshire! Anyway i digress, it was a great teamworking exercise and i came away with no injuries so now it's down to picking the best team.
There are already two or three players who look on super form and many of my players from last season's man-busting surprise win will once again be in the frame.
Good luck to all who are taking part, it's good to see a slightly larger league this season, it just means there will be more men left with egg on their silly faces when either I, Viv, or some other female romps home again.

Sorry 452 .It`s aimed at those who would like to see an all male division. This is the Harrop forum and the league is dedicated to the members ,friends and family .That must include the girls .I have no objection to anyone forming a private league, but this isn`t the forum for it .In this day and age it would be relatively simple to phone/fax/email like minded souls and form your own league if that is what you want .You don`t have to post it here.

Does anyone know the dialing code for the Mill fom here as i need to log a formal complaint?
I also need to atract only Males with a male sense of humour to any such private league that i A)Have every right to set one up..
B)I have the right to advertise the fact on here.
C)I also have the right to write whatever i like so long as it's not taken out of context by anyone who simply doesn't understand that fish only have a two second memory or did i just read that right?
D)I shall also be setting up a Spurs fan's only fantasy spin off league for anyone who's interesterd. That one will be open to everyone and anyone!
Eventually i will enter so many leagues that i simply must win one of them!
hahahahahahahahahahahaha
Fun in the Sun:D:cool:
P.S. I don't really require the code for the UK from here, as i'm simply laughing out loud while i lay on my sunlounger, next to the pool nd it's pool bar, typing away to anyone who is also bored and therefore takes time to read. OMG! Some even reply!

The more the merrier, definately.
To those who played last season, is it just me, or is it harder to pick a hopefully half decent team this season. If I used the same players as I did last season I would be about 15-20 million over-spent. The only option appears to be to pick newly promoted team players and those from lowly teams, e.g. Wolves (that's me banned).
The number of top scoring players from last season that are either suspended or injured doesn't help.
Maybe it's just me, or is it?

I tried that and failed. To be honest, I have changed my team about eight times so far, and must have used about 70 different players during the process. It really sticks in the throat to pick players you rather dislike because of the team they play for. I would imagine it's hard for a Spurs fan to pick an Arsenal player and vice versa. I would say impossible for a Millwall fan to pick a West Ham player, but of course that's no longer an option :D
Anyway, I think I'm now settled on my final selection, and as I will be absent for the opening week of the season, it will have to do.
I wish every man, woman and child the very best of luck. The pre-fight hype has been fun, and hopefully the lady personages haven't taken umbrage (Isn't that where the Archers live?) with my comments, the purpose of which has been to get as many of the Sisterhood to join and try and prove me wrong.

Okay i just got home from work (1am in the morning) and i thought i may as well pick my Fantasy Football team before going to bed.
Oh well it looks like i won't be trying to retain my fantasy football title this season after all. The season hasn't even started yet and the Barclays site is knackered.
When i joined the league last week i didn't have the time to chose the team so i just clicked the random player button and got all sorts of players, many of whom will never get a look in, i figured i would sort it out nearer the date. Now it appears i can't. If it isn't fixed by 8am i will cancel the account.
Tis a pity, it was fun last year.

I was going to just use the wild card early and pick a entirely new squad, that wouldn't have cost me anything in points but upon reflection seeing the last comments has finally made me realise i really do not want to be participating in the same league as people who have such a sexist attitude like that, believe me they aren't joking, i know.
So i'm sorry Matt and Dan, i know the league is a great idea and it was fun winning it last year and receiving such a stunning figurine, once again i thank you for that, but i will be deleting from the league this season. Steve also feels likewise, and i know he felt he was a strong contender for the trophy this season.
Good luck to all who participate this season, i know there are several people who understand my reasons.

Well it's been an awkward morning....Barclays servers having been overwhelmed with players logging on to do those last minute changes.....my son ....as I told him only managed to register a team in time but has had to rely on a team that was a random selection......he will have to use that wildcard possibly sooner rather than later. 75 in the league at the last count and that is brilliant...really proud that we have a private league any where near those figures.
The competition has now begun and before it comes to a close with the second Bulldoggz Meatbowl winner we will have gone through another winter and will be welcoming the sunshine in 2012 and of course the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics....a journey and a half.
I hope everyone views the league the same as I do and that is one of healthy competition....my cousin visited the Mill today and it's all we could talk about......unfortunately his son Ian had the same problem as Jack....so they will both will probably be at the top of the table...:D:D...as is the way of the norns...

78.....Excellent league status......I for one am very proud of those numbers.......remember to get into the top 20 or 10 will be an achievement.....to come top takes not only luck but effort and minerals so keep a check on your team.....don't think for a minute that one team choice will fluke it for you...no way...this is not a primary school 1975 tombolla meet....

I wouldn't want anyone to leave the league because of the Barclays servers going down. I myself needed to do some tweaks but couldn't, so I think we are all in the same boat. Anyway, you never know until all the games have been played, it might have been for the better. You can always tweak too much!
I've read through the comments and I'm not happy that 'sexism' has been brought to the table. I might be wrong, and I'm not trying to brush the subject under the carpet here, but it appears to be a bit of banter to me. I don't think in all honesty it is serious, and that comes from both sides. Boot on the other foot, does that mean that I am supposed to be offended by 'women rule, men drool'??? No, I didn't think so, I took it as a joke.
As far as I'm concerned, and I'm sure I speak for most, it doesn't matter who wins the league, all are welcome and it is supposed to be a bit of fun, with some healthy competition chucked in for good measure! To be honest, these situations always seem to involve the same two people, and I don't think this is a coincidence, so can you please put the gloves away and let the rest of us enjoy it. if nothing else, the country's been a bit crappy lately, so this will be a good distraction!
Thanks

It has been brought to my attention that someone may have once again misinterperated something said in jest as serious sexism!
Having just read back through the whole thread (To which has an awesome amount of tongue and cheek humour within it, from some very quick witted people) anyone who has also done the same, will clearly see that all comments have im sure being made with a massive amount of humour! That's what Banter is all about..............Terrace Banter is so much worse, but should that be taken away from the football fans? I guess not!
As for the Barclays Fantasy Web Site:
I suggest we all forget about the opening week of the 2011 season, especially all those who could not get on to tweek, which i was also one of these unfortunate managers.
However if i'm on the top of you all after this terrible set back, then i got their purely on tactical skill, not a sign of luck anywhere!
I have no problems who i am pitted against, as i have played the fantasy league's for years and always within mixed sexes.
So to deem remarks such as Boys rule girs drool as sexist, when further up the thread someone writes the opposite is just plain "Alex Ferguson Tactics" Come on we all know who rule's and who drools, so let's just leave sleeping dogs lie...............
By the way has anyone managed to get on the site yet, as i stopped trying testerday at 11.29 am....................
As for anyone who has any gripes with anything said within the fantasy world..................Then i say "Do your fighting on the pitch"
Come on you all now it's just a game.........................................:cool :

If other people can't see the sexist attitude and the pleasure this guy gets in seeing others bad fortune then maybe they need a good look at themselves.
The moderator on this forum seems blind to it, yet no doubt this post will not be published.

Hi Carla ,
I think that your victory in last years league answered all questions (actions speak louder than words) ,and in that respect we could all see who won the arguement .
I can understand your frustration in that ,being moderated ,you can`t come back with your quick acerbic wit when the witless one posts . Can`t see the point in you getting rid of your fantastic prize and I`m sure that in time you will regret it if you do. Good luck in whatever you decide.

Thanks Sam, i was told 'not to come back with any kind of wit' to a certain person's juvenile (when deciphered) posts, i was doing what i was told (ridiculous i know but that's the way on here for me). Obviously the code was only meant one way. I still haven't countered, i have simply put forward the facts. The moderator not only see's fit to ignore the sexism but is even joining in. Dagnabbit, this thread is supposed to be about football, why does it always end in tears??? Anyway here goes...
I'm not picking sides here, because as far as I'm concerned there isn't a side to pick, but common sense told me that all the posts on this thread were supposed to be taken in the spirit and humour I hope they were written in? I'm sure 452 pointed this out earlier in the thread, so are we wrong? Has everyone really been leaving the toilet seat up and tying themselves to railings and we've not noticed?
Anyway, help me out. If I have to deem what Dray said as sexist (his daughter and wife are in the league, so I think they may have something to say about it) then surely I have to assume that all the other relevant posts (from both sexes, including you Carla) are as well and that I have to shut down the whole thread? Did people really think the Male only League was serious? Give me a break...
And before someone starts down the favouritism route, I am big enough and grouchy enough not to be lead by anybody, and that certainly includes Dray whom I've had many heated disagreements with, so that certainly doesn't wash...
I can't comment on personal messages or emails as I haven't seen them and this is nothing to do with me. However, I have spoken to you on several occasions Carla, and I have advised that if you are receiving abusive personal emails then you should go to the authorities, so I am certainly not making light of anything.
This is the worst part of my job, and most of it I do in my own personal time, so I want it to be nice and simple, but the constant bickering from a select few is getting a bit old hat and I really shouldn't have to jump in all the time like a teacher in a playground. Look, if all this goes away, then I am not against banning anyone if it means the rest of us can get on with enjoying the footy.
Thanks

Unlike on the DS Dan is also constrained by the fact this is a company forum linked to a company web site and what happens here reflects on that company - we should all remember that perhaps when posting or airing our grievances on an open forum, there is always e-mail and pm's to sort our differences out.
We are all adults and are free to join or leave forums as we please, no one makes us stay and as is the way of forums, leave and your soon forgotten - that's life !!

Anyway back to the football.
I see Barclays have admitted what a calamity Week 1 ended up and have allowed free transfers thru to 20th August.
Well at least they have admitted it was their problem and are doing something about it. That now saves me 60 points! And even though i'm already down about 50 points due to an amazingly crap random team at least it gives participants who fell foul to the glinch to have a reasonable chance to recover.
Maybe they should have checked their new super duper website before making it live.
So if it's okay with Lord Daniel (not sexist or personal).......I'm BACK!

Anyway, back to the more important stuff, make sure you all get your teams sorted for the weekend, no more excuses!
I appologise for all the bluff and nonsense and I don't want this to deflect from the fact that Mr 452 still had a blinding week, good on you sir!
As for Berbabtov, I think he's going to find it hard to get a regular place if Rooney and 'Little Pea' are on form. Although he can always come on and make a difference, especially around champions league time when Rooney is likely to get 'rested'.
I wonder how many of you are now considering Aguero??

Unfortunately doing the hours i am on this last week i have had no chance of catching the worm, hence i was able to spend the afternoon enjoying myself while irritating you Dan. ;) By the way Betnovate is best for an annoying itch Dan, i'm still trying to find out what's best for a pain in the a**. If you find out let me know and i will try it, who knows it might work.
I did read somewhere that barclays were thinking of deleting all scores for week one to make it fairer, which would indeed have been fairer, but they decided to just let participants have a free transfer week without using the wild card. Many thousands were locked out and with such a huge prize at stake (the barclays prize that is, not that your Bulldog isn't a huge prize of course) they had to try and remedy such an appalling error.
On a slight tangent i was wondering what the ruling was in this situation...
A week or two before the end of the season, someone enters the Balldoggz league who knows they are on such a high score they must win the league, is this acceptable? I didn't realise just how simple it was to enter (and exit) different leagues. Just a thought.

Yeah free transfers, in fact Barclays have indeed cancelled the first week's points for the head to head leagues, unfortunately they haven't confirmed it for the standard leagues. But free transfers will do for second best, and all transfers will be set back to zero next week. It means some people start approx 50 points off the pace thru no fault of their own but at least it's something.
Replacement for Berbatov?.... anyone's gotta be better than Berbatov. Aguero looks good and i'm sorry Chelsea didn't sign him. Van Persie will always score goals. Bent is a cheaper alternative.
And Viv, don't keep praising the mod lad, his head won't fit thru the door. I still think his moderating has a lot to be desired, but i'm here to help him thru it. he'll do for now. :o

I do think though that from a moderating perspective of which I am one of them it can be like fighting a well oiled Orangutan with one arm tied behind your back and a bucket on your head. So my empathy does go to Dan who I have no doubt is nursing an incredibly swollen lower lip......
Anyway a start has been made on our incredibly healthy league albeit with Barclay's server meltdown certainly having impacted on many managers teams.....That's life I suppose and we have to see what impact it has had over the season... I think many got away with it and probably lost an average of 20 points. I lost quite a few last season by not being able to make changes when working away and largely forgetting to do so. This is the most important aspect of the game....so if you want to compete and give yourself a chance of a prize you have to keep looking.....luck plays a part....but like anything effort is the key....
I still hate Chelsea....last year Fantasy Football-wise they had a flying start and with their defence 452 has done it again.....for now....we'll see how he is over the long haul....;)

Nice of Barclays to send an apology about their complete inability to administrate a simple online Football Fantasy site.
Anyway i suppose now we start from scratch with option two with the Balldoggz league, all week 1 points deleted. The only fair way.
If this doesn't happen the league points will always be wrong. Barclays wouldn't have allowed this option if they didn't think it was a fairer system.
2. Opt to start mini-league scoring at Gameweek 2
The option is available to all mini-league administrators to start the scoring from Gameweek 2. Go to ‘Leagues’ > ‘League name’ > ‘Administer’ > Select ‘Gameweek 2’ in ‘Scoring Starts’ drop-down menu and click ‘Update league details’.

We will not be starting from scratch in week 2 before any such notion creates further nonsense......It really is mine and Dans league with friends and friendly members alike invited to take part in a "fun" league with a few prizes in it here and there....because we can and it's a bit of interest. My cousin won the last month of the 2011 season and was that chuffed he drove to The Mill to buy one of our Doggie People with it. It also goes without saying that the ultimate prize is truly unique and a rather splendid trophy unlike any I have seen and is a nice personal touch to boot.
Also my cousin had his team organised well in advance so got more points that a late starter......like my son...who wouldn't listen to advice to get prepared in advance...the league stretches out for many weeks and I have advertised it from the minute it went live.
The league continues as it is.....and thats the way it is....besides Number 452 wouldn't let me change it by the looks.::D

Oh the temerity, nay, the audacity, to take it upon ourselves to judge another, surely we must judge ourselves.
Are there any of us, so pure?, so free from sin in our own personal lives, that we can dispassionately, nay, objectively unfairly treat the minority.
Okay so be it, once again the have's keep the have not's in their place, once again society's rich thumb their nose's up at the working underclass. Is this what we voted for? Does Magna Carta mean nothing to you? did she die in vain?

Thank you.
It's good to be back (I think).
I can summarise my last week thus:
Dubrovnik - Beautiful & Hot
Venice - Fascinating, Busy & Very Hot
Raveena & Bari - Seen it, Done it, probably won't go back. Hot. (If considering Bari, don't bother if it's one of their public holiday's !!!)
Koper - Promising - Hot.
Fantasy Footie - It's still only a game, and supposedly a bit of fun. Glad I prepared before departure. If anybody is seriously bothered or upset, they can PM me and they can take over (and have the password for) my team. Certainly not worth having a hissy over.
Undoubtedly, Week 1 was a one off for me (Week 2 providing the evidence).
How is it humanly possible to concede a goal against West Brom at home? - Mystery?

I need to have faith in my skills as a football player and manager alike.
Last year I wanted every week to be that one special week that would leapfrog me to the top.
However! If I'd of stayed faithful to my original selection, well the one I used in the second week after already using the wild card option. I'd of actually won the league outright!
Depending on Captain and Starting xl of course!

To tinker, or not to tinker, that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
Another week of outrageous fortune,
Or to take action against a team of troubles
And by opposing end them. To fade—to sub,
No more; and by a sub to say we end
The heart-ache and the inevitable drop down the table
To stick, to sub;
To ponder, perchance to promote—ay, there's the rub:
For in that ponderance what inspiration may come,
To stick, to sub, remain true or tinker.
Must give us pause—there's the respect
That makes calamity of so long life.

Looking like a very good weekend for Mr Thompson so far - Aguero hatrick and captain (double points) to boot. The Champions League is definitely going to play havoc with managers choices - City drop last week's four goal hero Dzeko, only for Aguero to do pretty much the same.
Mickey Mousers slip up big time at Stoke, Spuds get their first points on the board, as do Arse, but only just. Everton and Villa manage to draw for the fourth out of five games against each other, Chelsea commit defencive suicide yet again at the death - very costly for me. I'm off to the Bridge on Tuesday for the Champs League game, so will be paying special attention to what is going wrong at the back. My defenders could be living on borrowed time.
Bolton-v-Utd to come this evening, with Utd 2/5 favourites. The boy Ngog is on the bench for Wanderers - big mistake Mr Coyle.

I have been jinxed by by own mental gambling paranoia......I was highly critical of Torres on gameweek 2...so much so that I thought if I removed him he would score a Hatrick as punishment from the God Of Spite....so I kept him on...and on...and on. I had Roonie as Captain on week 1 and took him of for this guy.....and he scores more goals in the shortest period ever.

Media reports regarding the ineffectiveness of Torres are greatly exagerated. Can I assure you all, as a regular at the Bridge (and not an armchair supporter) that he is in fact far worse than anybody can possibly describe. I too fear that as soon as I tell you feckless few who have him in your team to drop him, that he will go on a red hot scoring streak, but I will happily live with the guilt. It is therefore my honest recommendation to my fellow managers that you drop him faster than a dropped thing in a dropping factory. Dropping being a very apt word in his case.

Okay my fellow managers, on behalf of you all, I went to the Bridge again last night to watch Chelsea -v- Bayer 04 Leverkusen (Champions League) in order to report back on the lad (some say lady-boy) Torres and others. My findings are thus:
Torres was brought in to score
Mata was brought in to set them up
Luiz was brought in to defend
Result:
Torres set them up
Mata and Luiz scored
Apart from Torres setting up the two goals, he was pretty (as in pretty boy) average. The lad (or ladette) certainly doesn't like to make anything that could be considered a challenge and clearly is looking for the perfect pass to his delicately painted toe-nails (surely not) in order to pass the ball into the onion bag.
Luiz made a good first appearance of the season, and just like last season, looks great going on the attack, but susceptible to the odd mistake in defence (his primary responsibility)
Mata looks like a bargain.
Conclusion:
Drop Torres
Consider Luiz (but he wont play every week)
Definitely bring in Mata (will play most games).
Glad to be of service.
(One proviso: Chelsea play Man Utd this Sunday, expect Chelsea to concede, so don't bring in Luiz this week)

Strange day yesterday (Saturday 17th), I only had three players getting off their backsides and scoring a pathetic five points. I think looking at the league that the same goes for the majority of managers, so I envisage some big points being dished out today (but not likely in my case). Appears White Van Man Persie scored the majority of yesterday's big movers. On Arse's current form, he will either be in the Championship next season or driving his trade elsewhere in Europe with his old mucker Cesc, who must be laughing his stockings off having witnessed the 4-3 embarrasment at Blackburn before contributing to Barca's 8-0 win over Osasuna (or later, in their case).

Hi Purple ,You`re allowed one free transfer each week. If you don`t use it in the week ,it rolls over to next week when you are allowed 2 free transfers. You can`t have more than two free transfers so it won`t roll over to 3 transfers in the third week.

This weekend is sure to play havoc for most managers, with the two Manchester clubs facing each other. Big points available if your teams contain Manchester strikers, assuming their is a goal fest (can't see this being a 0-0), meanwhile Chelsea are quietly going about their business, using stealth to creep up behind them both. What would ordinarily be a 3 point banker for the Arsenal could actually be a very tricky tie against Stoke, considering the current fragility of Arsene's team. Lunch time kick off (on tv) Wolves v Swansea says bore draw to me. Should be a routine 3 points for Spuds, Mickey's and Newcastle, Sunderland to just edge it at Bolton, as for Fulham v Everton, who knows, or more to the point, who cares. Well that's my take on things, but then I'm dropping down the fantasy league quicker than a lady of the night's under garments, so what the hell do I know. One thing for sure, it's weekends like this that make this fantasy footie that much more interesting. Good luck one and all.

Very shrewd indeed. Newcastle have fielded the same goalkeeper, four defenders and three out of the four midfielders for every game this season, which is not only good for fantasy points, but could also have something to do with them being 4th in the league.

This weekend is sure to play havoc for most managers, with the two Manchester clubs facing each other. Big points available if your teams contain Manchester strikers, assuming their is a goal fest (can't see this being a 0-0) (I think 6-1 is a goal fest in anybody's book), meanwhile Chelsea are quietly going about their business, using stealth to creep up behind them both (me and my big mouth) What would ordinarily be a 3 point banker for the Arsenal could actually be a very tricky tie against Stoke, considering the current fragility of Arsene's team (Without the bloke with a girlie name, I would have been spot on). Lunch time kick off (on tv) Wolves v Swansea says bore draw to me (Correct). Should be a routine 3 points for Spuds (Correct), Mickey's (Typical) and Newcastle (Correct), Sunderland to just edge it at Bolton (Correct), as for Fulham v Everton, who knows, or more to the point, who cares. (Still don't care) Well that's my take on things, but then I'm dropping down the fantasy league quicker than a lady of the night's under garments, so what the hell do I know. One thing for sure, it's weekends like this that make this fantasy footie that much more interesting (Understatement). Good luck one and all.
Phew, what a weekend. Loads of goals, sending off's (Thanks Chels:mad:) loads of points for and against.

Last week to gain points for the October MOTM. Some great games this weekend with potential banana skins. As always, with the Champions League next week it is always difficult to predict what the starting line up will be for the four participating English clubs (Utd, City, Chelsea & Arsenal), particularly City who seem to have enough quality players to make up three squads.
Chelsea v Arsenal - I'm going for a draw, but how many players will be left on the pitch after 90 minutes (Fact: Chelsea had the best disciplinary record in the Premiership last season, they currently have the worst this season !!!)
Swansea v Bolton - Home win
Everton v Man Utd - Away win - I expect Utd to bounce back after last weeks thumping - they will be hurting.
West Brom v Liverpool - Must be an away win surely ???
Man City v Wolves - Away win - nah just joking - surely a guaranteed home win, how many will they score this week (it was 5-2 mid week in the Carling) but can't predict the City starting 11 ahead of the Champs League.
Wigan v Fulham - Can't get excited about this one, but as Fulham are poor away from home, Wigan just to edge it.
Norwich v Blackburn - With Norwich at home, I think they will win, but Blackburn will be bouyant after their mid week win (Carling), so possibly a draw, but I will stick my neck out and stick with a home win.
Tottenham v QPR - Home win, no problem. Despite beating 9 man Chelsea last week, I didn't think much of QPR (who only won by a penalty, and offered very little threat against the 9). I like Van der Vaart, and think he will have a field day here.
Sunderland v Villa - Draw, but possibly Sunderland win.
Stoke v Newcastle - Stoke very hard to beat at home, Newcastle good defence at the moment, difficult to call, but will stick my neck out (again) and go for home win.

......... and yah booh sucks to the likes of me who is dropping faster than a lady of the night's under garments. I've decided to adopt AVB's excuse - I'm rebuilding a team and I'm too expensive to be sacked. (Let's see if that one sticks when he ends up out of Europe at the end of the season). I can't even blame my defenders, because unlike CFC, they still play in defence and not on the half way line.
Well done to those that are doing well in the league, I haven't looked at your teams but my guess would be that the top managers have avoided Chelsea defenders / keeper like the plague.

Hope i don't get to stage 3, the tossing of the virtual coin. Hopefully my boys are good enough to get through without the need of a toss, good luck with your Xmas draws i hope they drop right for ya.

Well 2012 is here and also December's Balldoggz Meatbowl winner......Kids and Castles, managed by Anthony Mortimer...who is also leading the table. A really interesting month with lot's of teams altering league position and it really is still wide open to achieving an overall winner.
Personally I am enjoying being part of the chase and I am not alone and I really think this year many Managers are on top of their game and it show's with how competitive the League is.....No one is running off with the Ball....yet !!!....so lets all keep going. There's still individual game month's to be won also.....all to play for...

Indeed, congratulations to Mr Mortimer, not the first time he's won Manager of the Month either. Can I ask, is Mr Mortimer a member of the Collectors Club, only I have a sneeky suspicion that not all the managers in our league are actual collectors / members?
Secondly congratulations to Dan, who after an epic battle with Matt, triumphed by 4 points and thus claims the Buckley bragging rights as we enter the new year.

As subtle as a shovel in the face. As it happens Mrs 452 and I have been away for the last few days. Before we left I checked the table, but decided to leave the announcement until I got back as sometimes the points change a little. Anyway, you have now been declared the patsy of Dray Villas so if I were you I would keep your head down to avoid the shame. (and don't even think about claiming it was yours all along, but in Kim's name).
