Now call me a Geek but while watching the Thunderbirds episode 'Path Of Destruction' (The one with the crablogger) I couldn't help noticing Scotts pilot chair is different from other episodes and also from the figure that Harrops produced.

Granted, the picture does show Thunderbird1 in flight so the floor becomes the back wall but there are many more differences

1. The handles which Scott is holding curve from the outside - IN. Not like the Model, nor like many other images.
2. The back of the seat is Black and has a flat appearence, not like the RED padded buttoned one.
3. The microphone comes from above Scotts shoulder round to the front.
4. There are no RED leavers on the hinges of Scotts chair.
5. Scotts joystick controlls are plane on the front and do not have the panels on them, also missing red joystick and dial.
6. The base of the legs which join the floor would be backwards if his chair was returned to its loading position.

Now was this a MK1 chair or a MK2.? Im sure there are many other differences which i'll leave others to spot. But is there any chance of making this version too..? Possibly making it a LTD Edition of 50, like the Brains and Parker LTD pieces..? If so could you please put me down for 1 for suggesting it.?

Well spotted! Yes, we've had this before with some of the vehicles. I believe these differences come about from the fact that over the period of filming the episodes, many models were made of each vehicle (interior and exterior) and at varying scales to acheive the shots needed, and for whatever reason (I think the money was already blown on the FX before it came to the continuity budget!), there can be huge differences in the detail. For example, working on the recent Fireflash, the larger frame stills show that there are three jet thrusters per engine, but in a close up scene there are only two!

I'm pretty sure we recreated this particular figurine from stills of earlier episodes along with images supplied by ITV, so maybe Brains had a little revamp for the later episiodes!

There were several chairs and cockpits used for TB1 in the series. The RHD model is based on the first one, which is first used in the pilot episode - Trapped in the Sky.

For artistic license in sculpture, the pose is based on TB1 cockpit in vertical flight. So all the switchgear and levers are in the correct position. Unusual to be holding a radio in that position, but is a nice added touch.

Good topic.
