Just been and looked on ebay and see an Afgan for sale (link Below) but somehow it doesn't look right compared with others I have seen listed could one of you experts put my mind at rest as this same seller also has a lady golfer with a pink jumper and a oes painter with green overalls again these seem to be the wrong colour I'm sure all three of these have had a DIY paint job.

Hi Lord Snooty, I think the Afghan Hound looks ok, but I definitely think the golfer has had a little DIY doen to her. The best thing is to ask where they orginially purchased them from and if they come complete with original tubes and stickers. If you look at the bottom of the golfer the felt looks a bit hacked.

 I bought the OES decorator more out of curiosity than anything and paid £18 for it (reasonable gamble i thought at the time) His label is missing on the bottom, but he has been superbly painted if he is a snide. The buckles on his bib and brace have even been painted a brass colour, much like the old days (I was a painter back in the early 70s) and his face is also 2 tone much like a real OES rather than all white like the dog everyone has in their collection. I sent an e/mail to the seller, who told me she had got it from a lady that used to work at the RH factory, where she lives only 3 miles away herself. My honest opinion is i dont know if it is the original paint job or not, but i am happy to have it in my collection, as i dont suppose for the cost of the dog to me it really matters. If it is a "makeover" then someone needs to be offered a job at RH because they are extremely good! It is signed PRL on the base. If Cinta knows who the artist is, this might help to verify the authenticity of this piece.

:D Just noticed Cinta's comments on another thread in relation to a list she sent off to another member in relation to available OES dogs by Robert Harrop. It looks as though the OES painter i have may well be the 1st edition one released in 1993 and ended the same year. Its overalls are painted and its colourings are also different to the later model. Looks like i may well have a bargain at £18 after all :D

How do you mean Baz offer that DIY painter a job nobody is that good Harrops wouldn't want to pay there travel expences to and from work as I think all the pieces are made and painted in the far east now. :D

 Yes i noticed that gundog as well. To be fair though, unless you have the catalogue with the picture in it, it would be hard to tell unless you know what you were looking at. She has never claimed to be an expert (hell we have all made mistakes) but learning about RH dogs as our collections build over the years, is all part of the fun of it is'nt it?
