Have had to register again, as it's been such a long time and I'd forgotten all my details. Is Mr Phil Collins still out there? Can anyone tell me how the prices for the old original pieces are doing, My husband and I have quite a few and I'm trying to convince him not to sell!!! :( He seems to think the value has gone down significantly since he bought his collection, paying approx £80 for Cuthbert BD08, But as I keep telling him, it's not all about the value, it's the pleasure you get from just looking and collecting!! Unfortunately, we no longer have all the boxes or Tubes but still have quite a few that I managed to salvage from his arms on the way to the bin!!!

Hello Breville

I don't think Phil Collins is still around, i think he departed with a bit of a humdinger when i first joined about 5 years ago (nothing to do with me), but other people can be found introducing themselves in the Guide to Who's Who thread

The prices of the originals has been topsy turvy. A year ago, maybe a couple the prices were rocketing through the roof. Walter was selling for about 100, Cuthbert was going for ridiculous prices, and the others were starting to sell for access of 40-60 quid including little Winston and especially the later pieces and toots and sidney. Danta Claus sold for over 200 once!

but, there has been a dip in prices lately..... :(

I would say prices are now more realistic. I wouldn't say they have dipped more they went crazy for a 12 - 18 month period , then everybody seemed to want to sell their collection and cash in and so prices eventually leveled out.

Also thanks to ebay there is now a wider selection so buyers can be a little more choosey.

more buyers, yes not bidders but when i looked before i could hardly find any pieces actually up for auction, they were buy it now and virtually all from the same two sellers... so its either that price or no price

i have bought a few 'buy it nows' at a fair price, i think if you want to be a serious collector profit is not the aim, if i think a piece is at a realistic price then i buy it.
Bought a Large as life peter hazel for £9.99 +£5 post - i thought it was good value considering some are asking £39.99, just waiting for large as life beanos to hit at that price - well plug and minnie anyway

Middy if you look at the stockist list you will find large plug and mini still available at rrp in some shops I beleive my stockist still has a large mini if not Elton at collectables ltd probably has.
I think you both paid way over the top for a Large Dennis if you are patient you wil pick them up for £50 on ebay plus postage.
Should have asked I have a spare I would have sold you for less than you both paid.

Also just for future referance Dodger fan you can never lower your bid on ebay but you can retract it and rebid just go to help at the top of the page and find bid retraction in the A - Z and go from there.
