Just wondering what are the thoughts of the collectors , of RHD allowing a members sale at some of the open days at the new factory ,with a percentage of the sale price going to a charity .Members could bring along any pieces they wanted to sell . I realize that RHD are in business to make money but this might attract more visitors to the site where they could purchase current pieces as well . I also appreciate that there are a lot of different collections ,so they could, say limit the range that would be on sale ,say one open day for BD and CG the next open event Thunderbirds,DP and so on .Perhaps they could allow people to list items in advance that they would be taking to the event.

I think a members sale at a RHD open day sounds like a great idea although i think it would be better to have one with all ranges involved, i just can't see enough interest in just one range at a time.

I would also say that this idea would be better kept until the credit crisis had ended and collectable prices are on the up (which they will again one day.....hopefully). A sale now would be rather like a massive boot fair with sellers screaming at you to buy anything at 50p!..... well its not quite that bad but you get the picture. ;)

Good idea though Hillbilly, I look forward to 2010 Harrop Members A Collectable Odyssey.

I would of thought this highly unlikely. Having visited today, RHD will obviously be selling the various pieces themselves direct from their premises to visitors (as they were doing today), so I can't see them entertaining other folk selling pieces on their premises in direct competition.

Obviously I wouldn`t expect or RH allow current pieces to be included . rather retired pieces no longer stocked by RH. Indeed having spoken to him today , I don`t think that he`s got all his pieces to form a complete collection for his museum .He might find one on a stall;)

Great idea in theory but be realistic if somebody is going to the shop with a budget of £150 to spend RH aren't going to want that somebody to spend £50 of that budget with somebody else are they.

Fair point POPPY but don`t you think that it might increase the footfall through the doors ?

Not really Hillbilly if i wanted something normally you will find it on ebay. People who go to these days will go regardless.

You`re probably right POPPY . judging by the lack of response to this thread (3 Replies ) there seems to be a general air of apathy to the idea . Just thought it would add an extra attraction to the event.

Maybe you and I could do some swapsies Carla?;)
