I think that RHD should start a new section altogether entitled 'WANTED' OR 'LOOKING FOR' etc. since my quest to find a Port Solent i have had a few requests to find various pieces and i really think there is room for this type of section.
Lately i have seen people looking for
1. EBT Port Solent x 3
2. French Napoleon
3. CG Print....now successfully found through this site
4. King Charles Blenheim
5. King Charles Tri Colour
etc, etc.
I can only see that this section would only attract visitors to the site, perhaps RHD collectors who do not want to take part in the forum.
anyone got any further thoughts??

Yes!
What is an ebt??????????????????????????????????????????????? :p
And you could try looking for some rocking horse manure as i'm sure this would be easier to come across than the ruddy Port Solent Bull Terrier:D
I think your idea would atract many new comers to the forum which can only be a plus.:)

In principle, I believe this to be a good idea. However, I do envisage one problem. Broadly speaking it is only the rare or rarer pieces that most people are looking for. Most 'standard' pieces if I can put them in such terms can easily be sourced, Ebay being the obvious example. Returning to the rare / rarer pieces, any response to 'a wanted ......' will attract numerous interest, which in turn could effectively start a bidding war (I appreciate that this happens with Ebay anyway).
Being from the CG forum, I know little about Port Solent, although I recognise that it is much sought after. I would imagine for example that a dozen people would list this piece as one that they wanted. As soon as somebody identifies one for sale, in all probability all twelve people would then be the ones trying to buy it - hence the possible bidding war, which in turn artificially puts the price up. Apart from those who genuinly want the piece (because it's missing from their collection) you will also attract the magpies who who buy it to make a quick buck by selling it almost immediately. Again, users of Ebay will recognise the familier user names who engage in this practice.
I guess I'm being rather negative in my opinion above, but as I said, I think in principle it's a good idea - perhaps such an idea just needs a little more imagination around it to prevent the scenario I've outlined.
After all is said and done, you deserve a round of applause for coming up with the idea. I just wish I had all the answers.

I think that is a very negative attitude 452 basically if a Port Solent or something equally rare goes on ebay it is normally mentioned on this site and the bidding war is still there. I think Middys idea is quite a good one as long as the forum rules are adhered to then why not.
As for the Magpies and quick buck so what if you want something bad enough and are willing to pay you will I have done this in the past and would again if I wanted it and could afford it. If you don't want it that bad or can't afford it you won't buy it, Remember the sellers may set the price but the buyers determine if it sells at that price it is all down to the individual.
Recently there has been a few members on this forum who have advertised to sell up unless the price is right they won't sell to the first person who makes an offer they will wait and see if a better offer comes in so what is the differance between this and Middy's idea.

Draydur, Apologise, ET, i only used EBT for those unedumacated amongst us. Do you not think that if 12 people wanted to buy the same piece and the seller thought the would get a good price, then it might tempt them to sell. Plus, i have been selling a few pieces lately and have been asked for some pretty common things. I know about the worldcollecter site but it would be so much better on here. Anyway, i just hope that the powers that be can simply think about it!:)
