Been thinking...what would half the figurines be called if they were based on kids today?

I reckon "Roundabout Rascals" should be called "Off-license Scallies".

Anyone got any other suggestions?

Well the names Dennis, Minnie, Ivy, Les, Roger, (H)erbert, Sydney, Marmaduke, Cuthbert, Walter, Bertie, Ted, etc would be used

More like Chesney, Candice, Chloe, Jack, Stuart, Michael, Nicholas, Aaron, Dave, Billy, Tyrone, Todd, Kelsey, Sunday, Britney, Christina, Beyonce

The Colonel would be in an asylum, Dennis and family probably in a council flat without Rasher, Most of the Bash street kids would have hoods, Minnie would have a child, Roger will be smoking. Others would be always indoors on the computer

Minnie, she'd be like Vicky Pollard off of Little Britain!!
Les Pretend would probably have Attention Defisit Disorder and Cudles and Dimples would have been put up for Adoption

Not going to say what Dan would be doing for the "keep on rolling" piece, but it would involve Rizla!!

Maybe "Teach" would be young, female and slightly attractive. Not the old warthogs they used to be.

Little Plum would be an asylum seeker, Dennis would be under an ASBO,
Fatty would be on the Atkins, Spotty would be using clearasil and Rodger the Dodger would be successfully on the social. :eek:

Bash Street School would be closed - 10 students is simply not meeting requirements and Headmaster would be out of a job. Desperate dan would need a job to support his elderly aunt, billy whizz would be tested for perfomance enhancing drugs... korky and biffo would be lab experiments

the pup parade would of been put down... but i think Ill Will would be wither cured at last or on life support and grwoing pains is an alchoholic

Thought this would be the kind of thing we'd all think of. Just checking it wasn't just me!

The problem is that the beano, can't really bring in new characters. because the long term characters are still the most popular -Dennis and Gnasher, Minnie the Minx, Roger the Doger, The Bash Street Kids and Little Plum have been running since the 50's (ok Plum had a rest). Billy Whizz and Ball Boy have been around since they started, and the same can be said for Ivy the Terrible and Calamity James. I think they tried by introducing a skating storyline but that didn't last a year, they tried with Web Boy that failed. The only character that is closest to any kid these days is Robbie Rebel, and he is actually originally based on Robbie Williams.
In the dandy i think there is a skater dude but i'm not sure, the dandy has gone all shiny

The Jocks and Geordies would be replaced by Chavs and Skaters or something similar

is Crazy for Dasey and Tim Traveller or whatever his name was still in the Beano?

I think Crazy for Daisy is still there - i haven't read the beano in a long time and i only browse through sometimes when i'm in tesco... anyway i think the regular stories are Dennis, Minnie, Roger, BSK, Ivy on double pages. Ball Boy, Billy, Little Plum, Derek the Sheep, Gnasher and Gnipper, Numskulls, Colin the vet, Joe Jitsu, and Bea
Then i think they rotate Calamity James, Les Pretend, Crazy for Daisy, Robbie Rebel, Freddie Fear, 3 bears and Tim Traveller normally with 4 places available
Oh and i think they bring in Billy the Cat every now and then. Check the 2006 annual...
