Ive just looked through some of the dandy annuals i got off ebay, and some of the characters seem very similar to those from the beano
there is one who looks like calamity james- brain duane
ball boy- owen goal
and a few others
btw.. does anyone know what yr they stopped releasing the desperate dan annuals? I saw the dandy comic the other day and they seem to have had someone else on the cover, and changed their logo???

the dandy has really gone downhill....
i saw one the other day for £1.20 - you know where that can be shoved....
there was a bunch of lame characters like ollie fliptrik
they should bring back some of the classic character pairings like puss and boots, bully beef and chips, jocks and geordies, and korky the cat, keyhole kate, brassneck, claude hopper...
dunno about Desperate Dan annuals and i'm sure dan is the main guy still, he had more than one story in the comic.

£1.20 for The Dandy??
Thats a total ripoff, Wasnt Owen Goal just in as a spin off character for an anual? plus, the two comics were always competing, and i seem to recall a couple of years back seeing Cuddles and Dimples on the front cover?

I flicked through The Dandy when I was looking for comics for my nephew at it was pure shabby!! It was full of puzzles and stuff that was totoally unrelated to anything, no good characters and all the artwork on desperate Dan and stuff had completely changed... completely gone downhill!

Must be the modern way, politically correct etc. No spurs, gun and now make up!!!???
That's why the comics aren't as good as they used to be. Mischief...that is what they were all about when I used to read them and that is what is not acceptable anymore. Unless you work where I do...can't resist a good prank and a laugh!
