Wow!... i just had a run through Ebay's Harrop pages and more and more limited editions are showing up. I think i counted eight dr dogood's, three Tommy's and numerous Bulldog nurse's. I personally dont have a problem with items being bought and sold on Ebay, in fact going by the prices they were fetching (or weren't in most cases) i think less and less entrepreneur's will be chancing their arm with future pieces.
Maybe it's the buyer's coming to their senses and are not willing to pay £150plus for a resin figurine.

I wish the last Bull Terrier figure I'm after would appear on e-bay.

I would give them £150 for that resin figure :)

Carla beleive you me it is not a case of wouldn't pay £150 for a piece of resin. there are probably things in life you buy that I wouldn't give 2p or tuppence for.

My answer to you is it is up to the individual what they are willing to pay it there money and they decide how nuch the piece of resin as you so call it is worth not you or anybody else.

I am an avid Beano collector and if I decide I want to buy a piece and I can afford it at the time I buy it regardless of what anybody else thinks and that includes YOU.

Just one other thing you speak to Matt Buckley and tell him it is just a piece of resin and see what the reply would be.

Personally, i think it is a good sign if some figures are highly priced, it shows that Harrop stuff is worth collecting.

Fully agree with you there Poppy, its up to the individual what they pay for pieces for their collection. And Matt would go mental at that description of his and everyone elses work at RHD.

Also remember at the moment its a few months before xmas so some people are trying to sell to raise money, while buyers are also trying to save for xmas so that could be a reason why the market seems to be in a mild slump at the moment. :D

Don't get on your high horses!...wow so touchy!

It goes without saying that Mr Buckley's modelling skills are exceptional, as was Constable and Renoir artistic skills, but i wouldnt pay £150 for a copy of the Haywain either.
.....And i agree if you wanna spend so much money (this is relative of course) on a piece of painted resin, well thank goodness its a free country and you can, if you are fortunate enough to be able to afford it, but unfortunately some of us can't.

Maybe that's why i really don't go over the top when i don't get a limited piece as some people obviously do.

Maybe i still yearn for the days back in 1990 when i could buy a RH dog for £9 in a sale! (rrp was £18-£25 i think, memory is bad) those were the days. Mind you if collectors like me hadn't been buying all those years ago maybe RH wouldnt be around today to produce these LE's.

Ridiculous!

It's worth collecting because it's great quality at affordable prices (that includes the LE's at Robert Harrop's prices not at Ebay prices), i really don't see what the price you pay for it has to do with if it's worth collecting or not.

Yeah i bet the Ebay sharks love you! :)

Having seen Mr Buckley working close at hand and seeing the incredible detail that he puts into his work i know just how talented he is. Now offer me one of the originals at £150, it might tempt me, i would even pay £300 for the original of the Haywain!...generous me.

Carla looking at the threads you have put up here over the period you have been a member of the forum I would say you have been a Robert Harrop collector for some time with a fair amount of knowledge on the collections. You don't have to let on if you don't want but I would also say you come from the Kent area also?

Well I may as well put in my 5 eggs, First of all go Poppy go. I agree with you 100%. Ive been collecting RH bulldogs for about 15 years now and will always continue to do so. Yes sometimes it is really really annoying that the specials come on here and are gone in an hour (dur to the popularity) and you then have to pay more on ebay but I'm afriad anything bulldog Robert Harrop does I just have to have and maybe I am stupid for sometimes paying over the odds but when you collect something you want all there is to have. Besides sometimes you can get things for a bargain on there its not all bad. Besides I'm very very proud of my collection and have over 60 bulldogs alone some exceedingly rare. Ok so I've got the bailiffs coming on Tuesday and 5 credit cards up to the hilt and the house is remorgaged but hey have I ever got a great collectiion

Carla, if i put £3000 in a savings account for 10 years, it would be reasonable to expect a return on that money, correct? If i bought a Dennis Red nose back in 2001?? it would be reasonable to expect a growth in that value, correct? However if i bought a Dennis BD01 at £9.99 being neither a Ltd edition or sought after but great to look at, but not much value now then you are not expecting that one to increase in value, However the Ltd edition pieces i think most people would hope that they would appreciate in value. Peoples Circumstances change and collections must have some value otherwise Most people would not collect.

A couple there is loads missing where are all the black & Choc WW1 labs also there was a dr dogood that sold for £375 a Fireman dalamatian that sold for £200 I think it is the number 6 in the black watch has been on ebay 4 times so far that is just what I can remeber of the top of my head, without looking through the sellers that I know sold them I can tell you breaker 909 has also sold a lot more than that as well mitchey93 has sold more than that tina3353 had 2 dalamtians and a black watch on there all together which was all won by babssingleton and so sold on by mitchy93 because they are the same person. Spocbeardo sold a black tommy £120 all that is by memory sad I know.

So what is the point of this list I would say there is less than have half of them on there and I am not quite sure what it is leading to.

Iain

I did say the more recent ones as these are the ones I have been following and listed it as an example (as stated) of how prices drop down, in some cases quite dramatically; simple as that - its not leading anywhere.

AND to make it worse I was offered both 12 months ago for £250 each from two separate sellers.

I could only afford one at the time and chose the summer uniform, don't I wish I had bought them both now
